MENTOR CHOICE AWARD

Bueno, escribo para contarles que acabo de graduarme de Animationmentor, la escuela de animación online.

Tuvimos nuestra ceremonia de Graduacion el 16 de Enero (2009) en San Francisco. Allì donde tuvimos la posibilidad de conocer a gente de Pixar, Dreamworks, Sony, etc.

Participamos además de una ronda de entrevistas, donde conversamos con representantes de Blizzard, Speakeasy, Lightstream (fundado por algunos ex-ILMs) Sony Imageworks, ILM y PIXAR.

Además recibí el Mentor Choice Award! (premio para el alumno mas destacado de cada generación entregado por los profesores)

As some of you know, I just graduated from Animationmentor.com, the online animation school. We had our Graduation Ceremony in January 16th in San Francisco. It was so much fun to meet most of my classmates and mentors in person, some of them real animation ninjas.

Also, we got the chance to talk to some recruiters from studios like Blizzard, Speakeasy, Lightstream (founded by a few ex-ILMs), Sony Imageworks, ILM and PIXAR.

I was also honored with the MENTOR CHOICE AWARD !

Corto + Música

Esta es la ultima version de mi corto después de 6 meses de trabajo. Los primeros 3 meses fueron de pre-producción (staging, composición, cortes de cámara, storytelling, etc) y estos últimos 3 meses han sido solamente de animación

Hoy encontré un clip de música y lo edité para añadirlo al corto. Es interesante cómo la música ayuda a contar la historia. Mis agradecimientos al personaje que escribió la canción.Aún quedan algunos planos por trabajar

Bobby's comments and new reel soon..

Well, like one month and a half ago, a classmate from AM told me that Bobby Beck wrote on my blog. For some reason, I couldn't notice it by myself.

For those who don't know Bobby, he is the President of AnimationMentor. After working for years in PIXAR Studios, he decided on leaving that job and, along with Shawn Kelly (ILM) and Carlos Baena (PIxar), founded the first online animation school.

He has worked as a character animator in Finding Nemo, The Incredibles, Toy Story 2, Dinosaur, Cars, Monster INC, etc. and also has taught on the Academy of Art Institute in San Francisco.

AnimationMentor is a really cool school where teachers get really close to students and this is a good proof of it.

I guess I'll upload some of my work soon so be patience...

Jumping the box assignment

Hey People!
This is one of the animations I did for the Body Mechanics class. I tried to give him more life by adding some situations of the character interacting with the enviroment, such as the box movements and the character looking to cam.
I'm still refining my work for Class 2 so I guess I'll update my new reel soon.

Progress Reel

Hey people
I've been gone for quite a while but I'm finally back here..Here some updates:

-Work at Animation Mentor has been really hard these last weeks (can't even imagine the next classes)
- First term is almost ending and the next one is coming really soon.
- Well, after a while I got some animations to put up. This class has been just about animation principles, so nothing fancy yet..
- I'm planning on sharing some animations later, just be patient and wait..

First Q&A!!

Yesterday, he had our first meeting via webcam (Q&A). Each student had to introduce himself to the rest of the class. Paul talked about himself and introduced us to animation. We gave us a lot of information about what is all the animation world about. Really interesting to talk with people from all over the world!!!!!
